Melissa has recently been promoted to the role of Private Client Solicitor having completed her 2 year traineeship at The McKinstry Company. She will continue to work within the Private Client department in the Ayr office. Melissa completed her LLB at the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen and shortly after this moved back to her hometown, Girvan. She then spent the next 2 years working as an Account Manager, gaining valuable life experience and interpersonal skills. Driven to get back into the legal sector, Melissa then completed her Diploma at the University of Strathclyde.
During her time at Robert Gordon, Melissa undertook a semester abroad in Milan. She found herself drawn to the Private Client area as she is a people person, and this line of work allows her to give a more personal service to her clients. She will be working alongside Debbie to expand her knowledge and skills in the Private Client department.
Melissa volunteered at Quarries for over a decade, providing respite care along with her family, for children with disabilities. This came in the form of helping them to read, building their confidence and working on their social skills. She has a greater understanding of the intricacies that arise when working with a variety of individuals and their own abilities.
These experiences enable Melissa to make real connections with her clients, building relationships on both a professional and personal level.
Melissa’s higher education coupled with her managerial experience and volunteering, provides her with a well-rounded skill set, allowing her to tackle challenging situations, offer support, and provide advice.
Outside of work, Melissa enjoys keeping fit and has most recently took up hill walking. After studying in Milan, Melissa has turned into a keen traveller, travelling various places from Australia, New York and many countries across Europe. She is also a keen baker - her speciality being brownies and empire biscuits.
